A lease is an agreement that establishes the conditions for which one party, the tenant or lessee, is granted the right to use an asset, typically a property, owned by another party, the landlord or lessor. The lease provides the lessee with assurance of the right to use the property and obligates the lessor to receive regular payments for a specific duration in exchange for granting that right.
